The German Biobank Node (GBN) and German Biobank Alliance (GBA) develop and implement modular and interoperable IT components for German biobanks. These components enable biobanking across all locations: in future, it will be possible to rapidly find and compile biomaterial samples and associated data for national and translational research projects. The GBA data protection concept outlines how the data protection and security requirements as well as ethical and social concerns and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) are met.
